The point is that there are limits to what can be argued with logic. "Evidence" are empirical observations taking place in a world we cannot logically prove to be real. You have to start from some axioms to get anywhere.

Sounds like you both agree that advancing beyond innate childhood solipsistic thought boils down to a choice of either having faith that other people are real or a sociopathic belief that all other people are objects to be moved within your personal story.

I accept that if reality is an illusion, it's such a good one that it doesn't matter.

This is more or less in line with my thinking. I do NOT believe reality is an illusion, but I have been confronted with the possibility, and after thorough examination I decided it doesn’t matter because my behavior is all I control, and I chose to engage in faith that it’s real.

I can’t prove that my own family are real just the same as I can’t disprove their existence. The same as God. The same as any being outside of myself. It does come down to a choice of faith, but it’s an easy one to make because the alternative is sociopathy and preying on others.

I actually agree, because if reality is an illusion you are left with two choices: Either you have been placed in an illusion by other beings and therefore are not alone in existence, or you are an insane god who has trapped yourself in a false world.

The only one of those two I can fathom being possible is the first, in other words the Matrix dilemma. That’s the line I’m speaking of specifically.

And even if that is the truth, then this allegedly illusory life would be training and education for that other life beyond the simulation where others are real, and so moral behavior would not be wasted.
