Instead of taking the highway home I took back roads because I was shaking all over thinking we’d surely crash. We drove through the countryside at half speed, crawling along, and an old lady tailgated me. I was so wound up I almost pulled over to fistfight her.

The first night at home I barely slept because I was afraid he’d need me and I’d miss it. In the hospital we had fantastic nurses 24/7 and as I lay awake in the dark that first night I kept asking my wife, “How are we supposed to do this alone?”
