I personally love tropes. They’re comforting. But I also like to see the tropes be a basis for something rather than comprising the entirety of the story.

Critics are extremely harsh when they see a trope in a story. But most audiences really love them because tropes feel familiar and help the audience identify with the story or the characters much faster.
