Issue a statement condemning sexual immorality and specifically pedophilia in every form from any member of the clergy. Fill the statement with honest anger and use no uncertain terms. Perhaps mention the words “worthy of impalement.”

Announce the formation of a new Inquisition consisting of laity members answerable solely to the Pope with power solely within the Catholic Church, tasked with rooting out every form of sexual immorality or evil deed within the clergy no matter how powerful the individual.

I'm not yet a Catholic, so forgive me if it's not my place, but I always found myself really confused when I saw headlines talking about "resignations" or "suspensions" in the wake of such abuse. Why aren't these people being *dealt with* in harsher fashions?
