I’ve never liked this blanket rule against adverbs for authors, but I think I finally understand why writing people find them distasteful. It’s a wasted opportunity to show instead of telling. “He chuckled evilly.” “He chuckled, and the evil sound sent a chill up Sara’s spine.”

Definitely. I’ve got nothing against them personally but laziness or ignorance of an opportunity is exactly the problem.
