Sexual abuse is extremely against Catholic doctrine as it represents a mortal sin against the victim, the community, and God. It enrages any church member who holds to true belief and should never be tolerated anywhere. Addressing this issue is ongoing and is in open discussion.
Publicly flogged, bound in iron chains, imprisoned, and humiliated for the rest of his life by everyone around him having to chaperone him sounds like punishment.

I don’t disagree. But the official church doctrine is pretty firm against all types of murder, regardless of what individuals and small groups have chosen to enact at times.
