Well, no way around it. I need to meet an astrophysicist beta reader for my military sci-fi giant mecha story.

I'm an astrodynamicist. Do you need orbits calculated or stars exploded? (Hi,

Orbital reentry! At what point do the wind faeries make the things rattle and get hot.

You'll start feeling g's between 300kft and 200kft depending on your trajectory. If you're starting in low Earth orbit, that'll be 30-40 minutes from when you fire the thrusters to reenter. Then a few minutes take you up to max g's, 3g-6g (shuttle vs. capsule).

Giant Mecha are probably more like capsules in aerodynamics, so use the Apollo numbers if you need specifics. (Can answer more later, but promised wife I'd take her to the movies now.)
