Can't help but wonder why the very helpful site @4th_WaveNow is not even mentioned in this article? 4thwave is the only outlet asking tough questions about the affirmation-only approach, & offering support to cautious parents.https://4thwavenow.com/

It is an odd omission, given that our site is the first (and still the only) US-based organization providing that service, and we are largely a group of liberal, secular parents. Well over1000 parents have been in touch with us over the 3+ years we've been in existence.
-
4th wave now is already a target of trans activists. If 4th wave now had been included, that might have been used to undermine the legitimacy of the piece. Singal walks a tightrope.
-
Yet the Atlantic included a statement by (and link to website of) Zinnia Jones, another MTF activist who denies the experiences of not only parents, but teen girls who themselves point to social contagion and rapid-onset dysphoria.
-
This individual has repeatedly scoffed at parents who advocate for a more cautious approach to gender transition for their minor daughters, and promotes kids going online to get puberty blockers.https://twitter.com/4th_WaveNow/status/972154945129631744 …

Zinnia's the one who said even if all transwomen were rapists, they should still be allowed in women's restrooms.pic.twitter.com/qb19Dy9RsJ

Yes, and he is was promoting going behind parents backs to get blockers on line!

I see this thread has been taken over by the crazies who don't want ANY work published that is critical of their movement. One of their tactics is to completely discredit any journalist that has published work that doesn't fall in line with their goals.

i see this article has been written by the crazies who don't want ANY work published that supports transition. One of their tactics is to claim they support the most socially acceptable thing to support then wedge in their issue so they can seem 'balanced' and 'nuanced'.

Honey listen there are many "trans" people who later discover they weren't trans. So articles like these help them prevent destroying themselves. Criticizing stuff and allowing yourself to look into other perspectives can be healthy

-
I didn’t realize 2.2% (as the article even states) of people was that many. Or maybe you just opened your mouth without the facts, “honey”.
-
Where did I open my mouth without the facts, darling?

-
I... literally just told you, but I guess I’ll say it again slower so you can keep up. 2.2% Which is the amount Of people Who decide To de-transition Is not That many People Btw if you wanted to sound smart, the pet names and emojis aren’t helping your case.
-
But baby girl, I MYSELF never brought up numbers you just straight out shoved them in my mouth

Anyway, I'm so glad articles like these exist so they can prevent numbers from going higher
-
That leads to suicide rates for trans youth that are nearly 3 times higher than average. Nearly 40% of trans people under 25 have attempted to end their lives. And guess what? That number goes down to almost nothing if their identity is accepted.

The article doesn't cover an important issue: Many young lesbians find more support for being "in the wrong body" than for coming to peace in their sexual orientation--a process that can take many years and is often unresolved until the early 20s.https://4thwavenow.com/2016/01/25/the-surgical-suite-modern-day-closet-for-todays-teen-lesbian/ …

One of the interviewees in the Atlantic piece, Max, wrote this for us in 2016. It chronicles how difficult life can be for young FTMs who later realize they are, in fact, lesbians, not men trapped in the wrong body.https://4thwavenow.com/2016/04/27/shrinking-to-survive-a-former-trans-man-reports-on-life-inside-queer-youth-culture/ …

this article normalizes and validates gaslighting and abuse of trans people. only someone who has absolutely no idea what gender dysphoria feels like would suggest that it is a valid decision to intentionally prohibit your child from transitioning

Parents who gave their kid the secular version of "praying away" their gender issues, w/o proper counseling from a trans-friendly therapist, frame a story written by a cis person who casually uses "gender dysphoria" to discuss trans people. Good work.
-
Did you even read this article lmfao it has nothing to do with religion
-
The kid also did go to a trans friendly therapist, and many other places, and figured out for herself what gender meant
