Soooo when I designed my acrylic standee bestiary, I assumed nobody would want 2D miniatures these days. However, the response at Cancon was a RESOUNDING "make them in battlemap scale!" Far be it from me to defy the will of the public :p #dnd #dnd4e #dnd5e #pathfinder

On Halloween let's remember Bela Lugosi & his pro-union, anti-fascist work. A SAG founding member, he served on their board & organized workers. Lugosi helped form the Hungarian-American Council for Democracy, calling 4 “Nazism to be wiped out everywhere.”

Flyer stapled to a pole. Come watch me eat an entire rotisserie chicken November 6th will be the 40th consecutive day that I have eaten an entire rotisserie chicken. 12 o clock noon. The chicken will be consumed on that abandoned pier near Walmart. This is not a party

Oh my god fuck these ghouls. Pirate all colours forever. We all own the light.

Fun times ahead for #Adobe designers. Today, if you open a PSD (even one that's 20 years old) with an obscure PANTONE colour, it will remove the colour and make it black. Pantone want US$21/month for access, and Solid Coated goes behind the paywall in early November.

Imagine a fat character with any other story. Any story that isn't about being fat. Imagine if she was just a fat ballerina, and she was very good. And then she got recruited for a heist.

You know what I would like? A Disney movie about a fat person who doesn't have "body dysmorphia" or some other Alleged Fat Problem and is just happy and cute and occasionally has to tell somebody to STFU when they make fatphobic comments.

I understand the thought here. But geez, poor Affinity, right? Put out a good product at a price that's actually reasonable, and you might get... to be a bargaining chip for people who'd still rather give their money to Adobe. Big oof :\

One thing about Adobe subs. If you threaten to leave, they reduce the subscription from £51.99 to £34.99. If you begin mentioning other design software like Affinity or Corel then Adobe panics and starts slashing the price. I am using all the apps for £19.97 pm instead of £51.99

Listen I would LOVE to quit Twitter but I need Mastodon to do what it does before I can really make that happen. I don't have much hope but hey, why not give me your links? .@TheArtGremblin@kind.social

This came up a lot during the Disney Animated Canonball. Character design is dangerous because it's entirely about manipulating viewer assumptions. You HAVE to ask where those assumptions come from, lest you uncritically regurgitate the visual language of racist old men.

i think probably the hardest pills for people to swallow is how casual antisemitic tropes are used all the time in character design. not really on purpose more just because they're so established into our public consciousness as "evil" traits

The common link between Australian and English conservatives is they've basically had their way for a decade, gotten everything they wanted in that time, and it's been a fucking disaster. Their driving economic ideology isn't just cruel - it's stupid and it doesn't work.

The government can change hundreds of thousands of lives tonight by raising JobSeeker above the poverty line. Government after government has left people struggling in poverty. Poverty is a political choice. It's time to do better.

so here's a story I volunteer helping seniors with their technology issues. One of my regulars came in with a Lenovo laptop. It still had a retail sticker; I imagine she bought it used, for over $500 "I bought this so recently, how is it already so slow," she asked me

The saddest thing for me about modern tech’s long spiral into user manipulation and surveillance is how it has just slowly killed off the joy that people like me used to feel about new tech. Every product Meta or Amazon announces makes the future seem bleaker and grayer. 1/n
