I also read that if you have a way to mute the tab the page is on (whether plugin or otherwise ) it'll still count as a view

I don't think this is true. I've had mute lurkers in my stream for ages. And I tested it with my chatbot account; it ups the viewer count on mute and takes one off when I come off it too.

There isn’t any evidence or research I’ve found on this but if viewers interact with the chat in anyway then maybe it counts as a viewer? Let me know if you find anything so we can spread the word

Clarify on this pls, does this include muting the tab itself, or just the twitch player?
-
From what I’ve read and what others tweeted, you can - Mute the tab in Chrome/Firefox - use a 3rd party addon to mute the tab - Open a new window for the stream and use Windows Sound to mute that window

If you're using FireFox or another browser where you can mute the tab itself and leave volume running on the stream it still counts you as a viewerpic.twitter.com/gr1MqjyIMY

Thanks for sharing the tech!
