Just a friendly reminder that when someone is experiencing negative emotions, phrases like "Cheer up!" and "It's not that big of a deal" do not help. In fact, they usually make the person feel even worse.

Exactly! It is such a shame. And good point. Sometimes people do care, but they don't know how to react and say the wrong things. Other times, they might default to said statements because they don't actually care and are too lazy to say something more meaningful.
