Obama at least had experience as a community organizer and, however brief, a US Senator. I agree, not the most qualified candidate ever, but he knew more than just what he learned watching The West Wing.
Also a Constitutional Law professor, don’t forget! Still, it’s just as important who a candidate surrounds themselves with as who they themselves are. Obama, after all, found the single most qualified person he could get for Secretary of State.
