Nevermind the ideological conflicts between socialists and anarchist -- which are not internecine strife, but real divides.

(They'll unite against fascists, but not necessarily against capitalism. Anarchists view socialists as too capitalist.)

One thing I'll concede to Thiessen: During WWII when Soviet U was ally against Nazi Germany, socialists were naive about Stalin.

They woke up quick as the Iron Curtain fell. And that was 70 fucking years ago. No one is naive about that shit now. FFS.

But it serves his rhetorical purposes (and those of Chait style liberals) to conflate various parts of Leftism with right wing fascists.

"So do you condone the violence of Berkeley antifa against nonviolent protesters?" is the inevitable question. No. They were dicks.

But can anyone spot the difference between a few jerks getting carried away by anger and fear, and the inherent violence of white supremacy?
