The sense of community a live audience feels when they offer up one of their own to a comic...that can't be reproduced on the internet.
Add onto this the shock-jock variety of semi-comedy as first-timers at an open mic try to find out what works...except it never ends.

Not everybody gets up during an open mic. There's no closing time on a video game. You will get heckled just so somebody else can get up.

That happens in REGULAR open mics. But the real world has club owners to inform these people that they will never be getting up again.
