Yeah. No, that was kind of an alternate take on it, the After Colony timeline. The main universe is called the Universal Century timeline.
That's what's called 'Mobile Suit Gundam', the original series made in 1977, called 'First Gundam' in the fandom.

That's a good starting point. I'm rewatching it. It's pretty good, especially if you remember what came before it: stuff like Speed Racer.
