I just had an awful collision of thoughts in my brain. Covid-19 cases are stretching hospital capacity past their limit. Folks want to convert existing buildings into hospital bed space. Where’s a place that already has beds? Hotels. Who is the president? A hotel mogul.

We need bed space. The president of the United States actually does own a lot of beds. So WHY aren’t we throwing open the doors of every Trump-branded property and hotel, and rushing the Army Corps of Engineers in to convert every available room to hospital bed space?

Do you realize the PR that would get? “President offers entire New York hotel as hospital for coronavirus patients!” A president actually concerned with the public good could make this happen with a word.

It’s not as if those hotels are making money right now anyway! Nobody’s traveling, nobody wanted to stay at a Trump property even before that! But does he think that way? Has this even entered his mind? It hasn’t. He’s a dragon who’s forgetten he’s even sitting on a hoard.

The thought of giving up something he has for the public good is antithetical to his character. Donald Trump could save thousands of lives of New Yorkers with two phone calls. Two phone calls that’ll never be made. Because those hotels—those beds—are HIS. You want ‘em? Pay up.
