For the record, that Somali terror group is funded by Iranian special forces and serves as a proxy for their interests. Their attack on that base happening when it did is the complete opposite of coincidence.
Do they coordinate directly with Iran? Or did they respond on their own? I'm curious how coherent the response is, given the generally loose nature of these networks.
Remember how Suleimani was known for coordinating groups like Hezbollah with Iranian interests? That was what he did, turn organizations to work for his interests. Groups like al-Shabaab are ostensibly independent organizations, but the leadership knows who butters their bread.
