That struggle, the attempt to try and live up to the ideal, is what makes the flag worthy of veneration. The sacrifices and work that went into trying to achieve it is what makes the flag sacred. Without those ideals, without the struggle, America is just another tribe.
Also, @Andaericus, I know you won’t reply since you got block-happy, but politics was once how both sides just had different ideas how to achieve that ideal.
