The vitriol spewing from a subset group surrounding @CriticalRole is only further illustrating that we geeks have a lot to work on with ourselves. For fuck's sake, we live in an amazing time, and this is how we choose to act? Christ.

I don’t watch. (I know, I know, blasphemy...) What happened? I heard a character had something bad happen?

Without spoilers, the group attempted a fight that was beyond them. Bad rolls, bad timing, and one desperation play later, a popular character is dead. Cue self-entitled fandom rage.

*shrug* No DM enjoys seeing a party fail. But every DM must be prepared to murder anyone at the table. Just the way it is.

Yup yup. And Mercer thoroughly acknowledged that, and so did the players involved. But, leave it to a fringe sect of fellow geeks to go ham because things didn't turn out exactly as they wished.

A death at the table is always hard. Some folks take it better than others. But, hey, especially in D&D, death doesn’t always mean the end of the story! Or, imagine the NEXT character they’ll bring to the table!
