My book's protagonist is pansexual (like me), his girlfriend is bi (like my wife), one of their party members is ace (like my brother), one of their party members is lesbian (like my ex), one of their party members is gay (like my uncles), and one of their party is straight.

Look at my examples and see how close they are to my day-to-day life. This isn't forced diversity, it's just how the world fucking IS. If you think, for one second, that MOST of the world is WHITE and STRAIGHT and CHRISTIAN- oh my GOODNESS are you so COMPLETELY wrong.

The women save the day in my book. The trans man saves the day in my book. People of color are badasses who ALSO save the day in my book. IT ISN'T HARD TO WRITE, EVEN (ESPECIALLY!) IN A FANTASY SETTING, BECAUSE HOLY FUCK IT'S JUST LIKE REAL LIFE, FOLKS.

Aww. No representation for the straight folks who know they’re repulsive. Guess I’ll have to look for my self-insert in another book, then...!

You’re not repulsive! John Joren is the straight white dude in the party- he’s a mercenary and stronk fighter, but also the only non magic-user. He begins the story with next to zero tact and a very macho attitude, which end up costing him pretty heavily in the end.

Hey—okay, hang on, that sounds really neat, I’m such a sucker for Sokka-like characters in a room full of benders—but HEY. I worked HARD to get to ‘repulsive’, sir, and I will not stand to be called otherwise!
