If you have two channels named “butts McGee”, and one is a rip-off, verification ensures that people don’t mistake the ripoff for the original.

Well the majority wouldnt or have paid attention to the check mark. And it pretty easy to spot a fake. More orver if you already sub to them it's not really an issue. Like People can do what they did before yt started the check mark process.

Fakes are harder to spot in different circumstances, and some of the fakes are doing things that could get the originals in trouble.
