That's the awful nature of war. WW2 atrocities by Soviets and Japan are brutal examples - treating enemies as subhumans to be murdered/raped. A story as old as mankind.

I don't deny that they had rules of conduct but you would be naive to believe they weren't broken. It is the nature of men at war, conquering foreigners with malevolence in their hearts.
