This is a desperate reaction to the idea that a mass shooting could occur unpredictably at any day. My opinion is that the media pushes this idea and keeps people in fear.

Recent headline about the Austin bombing suspect got a lot of flak for describing him as "quiet, nerdy, from a tight-knit godly family" - flak because it humanized a white male whereas black/brown suspects don't get this supposedly good treatment in media. Ergo white privilege.

3/3 But the white privilege outcry misses a point that the media has incentive to sell FEAR to keep people gripped. The most horrifying narrative to sell is that America is rotting from the inside-out: good quiet kids can snap and shoot up your school. May as well throw rocks.
