I don't think, but I could be wrong, that current kids will have as radical a tech overhaul as we experienced with the advent of cellphones becoming smartphones, vhs becoming dvds becoming streams. We're the last to remember the analog tech that lead to the cloud.

I agree. It's a bit like leapfrog between networking and technology. Take MMORPGs as an analogy. There wasn't a great advance in the video game experience, say in mechanics or graphics. Rather, the networked experience took users by storm.

Strangely enough MMOs slowed down. League of legends overtook WoW for instance. You're asking about MMOs in particular but my thesis is moreso that people are increasingly connected and that's how the technocorporate machine will advance its next iteration.

MMOs rapidly monopolized a huge userbase over non-MMO predecessors & there's something fundamentally psychological that will re-manifest
