You can give a mouse a stroke which wrecks its motor skills, and start re-training the next day (and so on) until a full recovery. But if you wait a week after the stroke to re-train it, it NEVER fully recovers.

Say you've got a post-stroke mouse and it missed that precious re-training window: If you give a mouse a second stroke, and start re-training it the next day - it makes a full recovery.pic.twitter.com/zOggUymtky

Perhaps there's an analogy between this and psychedelics in therapy. PTSD and chronic anxiety can be deeply ingrained, but psilocybin and MDMA (w/ the right setting) have proven their power in making the mind/brain plastic enough to allow long-lasting corrective changes.
