The fact that corporations and politicians are corrupt is a trivial fact of life. They just are. But the scale of their sudden "care" is unprecedented, no? It's as if the most powerful people of the world suddenly started loving us, for the first time in history...
Importantly, they started "loving" us like they're a parent and we are all underage children, not capable of making coherent decisions for ourselves (except the actual underage children consenting to experimental treatment... oh never mind).

that's the end point of the alienation spiral - get everyone to feel nothing more than indifference for each other, including themselves, then the corporations get to play warm fuzzy like THEY'RE the ones who really care.
There's nothing new about the scale of their pretended affection for us. What's new is the scale of our own gullibility.
