This is really good. Malidoma Some, a Dagara elder, has a lot of wisdom about the brokenness of today's society, courage, and healing. I would recommend to anyone to listen, read his books, etc.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHbmbTk9-lY …

Tangentially, an interesting piece of info that I only learned a few years ago is that Jung, for example, largely stole from African wisdom, but of course, he misinterpreted as he was processing it through a broken, scholastic, western lens. The originals are a lot more powerful.

:) I admit to having very strong feelings about it but not scholastically (as in, I would not engage in heated debates). To my senses, the interpretation is very pale comparing to the original, and I long for a world in which the original is respected fully and used to heal.

But there's a value in pale imitations too! They can lead to study of the originals…

And yes, there's value in about everything that happens but again, my feeling about it is not scholastic To my senses, it's important to direct the efforts toward healing, which the original is all about. Writing books about interpretations is cool but less useful.
