I don't know if that sounds familiar to you too?
He said that they had a saying "There is no truth in The News and no news in The Truth".
Kinda like today's media. 
"Media self-training" in late Soviet Union went like this: Read Pravda and assume the opposite. I find it surreal that this rule works so perfectly for today's mainstream media. It's like waking up in a different time, and for some reason no one's heard how the movie ended.
