And even more importantly that reason, it destroys compassion by eating at human ability to relate simply on the basis of respect for another person's right to be.

Sometimes I think they co-opt compassion by destroying reason. I see a lot of badly manipulated “normal” people who actually believe they are somehow helping people by enabling totalitarianism.

Oh, the sentiment of compassion has been hijacked, for sure. It's sickening to see. But it happens at the expense of the actual ability to relate and be compassionate.
