In fact, this is particularly treacherous since it has been known from the beginning that those things would create ridiculous amounts of plastic pollution. But they were okay with it, as long as we end up with smart wearables eventually.

There are some hard-core wearable devices being created currently. It appears they are aiming to merge multiple current devices into one such as your phone and some health monitoring into what is essentially a VR/AR mask/helmet
Spain's health minister says that masks have zero to do with health, it's a symbol of obedience and servitude. He even says that even if covid is gone forever, masks will stay mandatory. Amazingly, he admits he was shocked how everyone obeyed right away & sacrificed all rights.
