I've never seen a happy, balanced, open-minded human being froth at the mouth at a sincere opinion they disagree with. Similarly, I have never encountered a confident person who wants to censor things based on who thinks what.

Peer pressure works like a cult. The brain starts to simply reject ideas and facts that don't fit in the master narrative. And that's how people get so angry to hear things that they don't consider "correct." Anger is a reaction of addict. An addict to an idea.

A totalitarian society is a society that consists of deeply unhappy people who need a lot of "rules" to control undesirable thoughts and feelings. The secretly sad people're afraid to deal w/ uneasy thoughts and feelings in themselves, and therefore they're mad at those who dare.
