I have been admiring the spiritual depth of Rabbi Yitzhak Dovid Smith who has been discussing the current situation from a historical perspective. I know that "smart, educated people" are expected to side with "clean" talking points and not with dissenters but I simply can't.
Coming from a different culture, I can't unsee that today's onslaught on existential freedom is too close to the "scientific" and "clean" Soviet Union of my parents and grandparents. I could care less about isms but some aspects of human life should not belong to any third party.
