Every time I see footage of police brutality, I want to throw up and I can't share it, it's too much. It's the same all over the world. Same power inebriation. Different nations, different ethnicities, different formal excuses (or none at all), same zombie sadism.
The footage I saw this morning of a woman in Australia being brutalized and choked by a cop for not wearing a mask is stuck in my head. New normal is as disgusting as the old one. The only difference is that the line of criminality is volatile, and empathy is beaten out of us.
What I've been saying for years is coming true (not that I am happy about it), and if other things I've been saying for years also come true, we are screwed. I am afraid that establishment pundits are either stupid or blind, because the trends are obvious.
In this case, I've been saying that as a global society, we are being "guided" NOT toward a version of justice where everyone is dignified but toward a version of equality where everyone is abused with impunity. A downward equalization surrounded by lots of misleading language.
And this is not good. Really not good. The noise will be forgotten, the slogans will change time and time over, but the trauma from the new abuse--in addition to the trauma from the old abuse--will likely maim many generations to come, if we don't unplug from echo chambers.
