I am beginning to think that the American two-party system was an invention of a political evil genius. It is more effective in promoting conformism and a lack of curiosity than dull Soviet television with only two channels!

I have the blessing and the discomfort of not having been raised to love or hate any side. All I see is my fellow citizens using different emotional triggers to win, and then continuing to say what appeals to their base while doing what they gotta do to get richer.

But the system itself effectively blocks the sensory ability to see that both parties are fully and completely beholden to corporate owners. Maybe different owners but same principle. Ants don't matter.

The problem with conformism is that it usually leads to a demise. Demise is fine as an existential category--the world is not coming to an end--but what will you personally do if after cheering for disruption of life "as we knew it," you end up going hungry? Whom will you blame?

And what if we are in an important time? What if the most important thing one can do for the future is shake off intellectual slumber and feel like like a peasant or a child, embrace innate senses, and forget about what we are "supposed to" think? Would be so sweet...
