I wish I were a teenager who could write off inexcusable conformism of the intellectual class and as "what adults do." Are the walls around what's "appropriate" to think made of electric wire? Am I lucky to have gone through so much crap early on that propaganda doesn't stick?

Sometimes I wonder how I would be interpreting the world had I not gone through situations that were violent, strange, and forced total honesty. Sometimes I think it's probably much harder to repel abuse without that kind of experience under one's belt. But we are being abused!
