I wish I were a teenager who could write off inexcusable conformism of the intellectual class and as "what adults do." Are the walls around what's "appropriate" to think made of electric wire? Am I lucky to have gone through so much crap early on that propaganda doesn't stick?
Sometimes I wonder how I would be interpreting the world had I not gone through situations that were violent, strange, and forced total honesty. Sometimes I think it's probably much harder to repel abuse without that kind of experience under one's belt. But we are being abused!
What I'm saying is that life is not a salon. We can discuss palatable, respectable narratives (approved by the echo chamber) till our lips turn blue but without an open mind, without the ability to transcend the echo chamber, we're dead in the water. The world is at a crossroads.
What we are looking at is a total surveillance and disconnection from nature, possibly for a few generations, sold to us using fear and all sorts of lofty language. What we a looking at is a next level of fantasy in which the physical world is suddenly undesirable and dangerous.
It is the same delusional vision that has been forced on people by ambitious charlatans for centuries. Before, nature was "the devil," now it's a quantifiable resource, and so are we. The price for accepting this fantasy is very high, we need to remember who we are....
