It all feels like a much worse version of late Soviet Union. The slogan yelling is deafening, the disintegration of the system is palpable, and the alleged community values are very obviously created at the top—but unlike in late USSR, people haven't yet figured it out en masse.

Growing up on the ruins of the Soviet Union, I remember the amazingly powerful and sweet feeling of freedom: everybody suddenly talking sincerely, dissidents celebrated, and the establishment apparatchiks FINALLY laughed out of the room. 2/

Well, of course, years later I realized with sadness that the wind of change was really the sound of Western multinationals moving in and restructuring markets, while selling the idea of "freedom" to the citizens who were hungry for it. History repeats...

It's always about the markets. Whenever the establishment touts #freedom and #publicgood, it's about restructuring markets and weaponizing peasants against competing mobs.
Our hope is waking up our senses and remembering why we are here. And remembering the love.
