There's no alternative to the physical world. It literally is the only one we have. There's an infinite difference between sensible caution (based on science, not commercial vision) and the idea of interacting with others from underneath the glass, while scared ... forever.
I'd also like to emphasize that the Big Tech vision to take us away from the physical world and make all of our interactions digital (until the physical world is equipped with sensors, IoT, etc.) has been their long-standing vision. Has nothing to do with the current situation.
