Or maybe not a bug but a horrible feature. Because when everything is compartmentalized, and everyone keeps their head down and doesn't pay attention to how similar choices have impacted people elsewhere, same extractive practices can be applied to different groups infinitely.
And then each time an issue comes up, the conversation can be turned into a conversation about a specific case. Which is needed but.. What if the entire culture is based on the rotten principle of owning others (their thoughts, their time, and their creativity)?
So many problems can be resolved so much faster if we simply assume that we don't own other people, and that extraction is a rotten mechanism of interacting with the world. While I am at it... and that it has nothing to do with "isms" but with respecting each other's dignity.
