The infinite stream of gossip and media-friendly partisan outrage is super unhealthy. It kills everyone's brain cells, it wastes our time and emotions on noise, and in the end, all it does it giving us a platform on which we simultaneously monologue and give somebody our data.
Finally, after observing a number of heated Twitter feuds, I arrived at the conclusion that even that is real but not real. When everything is a spectacle and there is nothing physically meaningful to hold on to, it's a miracle that more people aren't helplessly depressed.
