If we unpeel further, a bag is just a bag, and a shoe is just a shoe. Personally, I would not mind living in a world where everybody is on the same page about that. The prices for "brand," um, wearables, are inflated into near infinity, and our emotional hunger is to blame.

And sure, the existential scam is super easy to fix on a personal level by buying only what you need and paying no attention to labels. I would very much love to live in an actual free market where marketing doesn't imply confusing people, and competition is on quality.

Also, I am using the word "wearables" in its original meaning, i.e. "things we wear." Clothes, shoes, and what not. Although it is still a bit of a horrible word.
