Here is the thing. I truly like everybody. I can have a cup of tea and a conversation with a person holding any beliefs and convictions. I believe that most people do their best under the circumstances. I believe that everybody makes mistakes. But aspiring for honesty matters.
I thought, okay, I have the expertise to discern good analysis from fiction when it comes to my culture, but what do I do when pundits talk about cultures that I am not familiar with? And how do people who are not familiar with my culture can know whom to believe?
The truth is, there is no way to know. It took me years to lose the proud prejudices that my "good city education" gave me. Years. And lots of painful experiences. I learnt to trust my gut and my peasant senses over "experts." The only thing I believe in is kindness.
