If we take the position that copyright enforcement is incompatible with due process, we are taking the position that copyright is incompatible with free expression. The arts have always lobbied for a high bar before expression can be removed. This should not change now
Again, let's go to a place of actual freedom and look at it thru the eyes of a five-year old. This is verbal macaroni! Copyright might be redundant in a world where people are naturally grateful and don't steal, and where rent is free. But in our real world, it needs to exist.
Speaking of. Copyright cannot be two opposite things at the same time: Unnecessary / outdated when I want to use other people's stuff, and totally necessary when other people want to do it to me.

This is indeed rich. I suppose this is what Doctorow means when he says he's not anti-copyright. He likes it sometimes, & in some instances.
