I consider myself liberal in the non-political sense of it. I treasure freedom. I have traveled too much to take any slogan seriously. In my heart, I know that slogans don't do shit. It's a combination of love, critical thought, courage, and humility that solve problems.
So, you think that the mental issues of this suspect are a partisan issue? Not a sign of society breaking down for reasons that are rooted in lack of any humility whatsoever, in fake definitions of success, in lack of kindness, in artifical isolation?
It's like horrible things throughout history have not been done in the name of literally every cause imaginable, from religion to science to atheism to nationalism to plain unmasked greed.
Given all the cruetly happening, all our entitlement that we don't even notice because we take it for granted.... dunno. I guess I wish finger pointing were not such a great a bestseller on social media. Because we are all far more complex than that. And we all bleed red.
And clearly, no one individual can solve the problems of the world. But I wish the way we talk about our problems weren't so overly sensationalized and so focused on marking ourselves as the ones on the right side of history. History is not shallow. History is every one of us.
