Not really, but I can see how some in the artistic community could picture themselves in that role; the unrepresented parties in either of the A-vs--B narratives are the groundlings, the users, whose interests are best served by the least interference in their communication.
I am afraid that the artistic community has spoken very loudly against being raped by the tech industry, and yet the tech industry is still using "users" whose data it is also stealing and profiting from, as the beneficiaries. That is a faulty narrative!
