For the sake of fuck. This feminist with hormones wants to spank Andrew Sullivan’s arse with a Forbes magazine until he calls me Daddy. [thread]pic.twitter.com/ES5OZ6tpBX

That pictured excerpt is only one part of his latest nonsense, but let’s just take this piece by piece. I know this must be a shock for Andrew Sullivan, who has by all evidence only seen women in magazines, but we have hormones, incl testosterone. We, too, are covered in hair.pic.twitter.com/PknpKJLnXq

Struggling between impulses of lust and logic is not exclusive to men. It’s part of the human condition. In the immortal words of Jeff Goldblum: Life, uh, finds a way.pic.twitter.com/xcP2XUDTb0

Sometimes humans have a perfectly natural impulse and decide to exercise control over it, for one reason or another. This is something we begin to learn as toddlers. Internalizing that lesson is part of GROWING THE EFF UP.

Men do not need to be “restrained, tamed, kept under control” by external forces. They can and should *exercise restraint*. Arguing otherwise is an insult to all grown-ass men.

See, masculinity is full-on Gorilla Channel, feminists. Hairy, primal chest-beating, 24/7. And if you try to change the channel, men are going to REACT by unleashing their full silverback force. BTW, when they do? All your fault.pic.twitter.com/H8er9o2YBi

So here’s where it gets especially interesting for me, as a writer and reader of Romance. I do sometimes find “core aggression” to be sexy. Many, many people do, and not just those attracted to men. Power play in the bedroom exists irrespective of gender or sexuality.pic.twitter.com/pKrp0pqLXv

Yes, Romance features a lot of alpha heroes with raw, primal (sometimes literally animalistic) sex drives. But any force required to master those impulses is clearly described as *their* internal struggle, not their partner’s. At least, it is in any Romance I want to read.

Now that I think about it, what we read is beside the point. Women understand fiction versus reality and can make informed choices regarding both. If I read one more hot take apologizing for rape or assault by invoking FSOG... 😡

What FSOG did do, however, was provide incontrovertible evidence in the form of $$$$$ that women also have desires and fantasies. Ones we by-and-large choose to exercise or not with our own evolved human agency.

Bleh. I’m not even going to bother with that second paragraph. It’s a hot mess of victim blaming and redpill/incel apology. “You’re asking for it, feminists.”

Tl;dr: Man up, Andrew Sullivan. You own your words, whether they’re in garbage articles or in pick-up bars. You alone are responsible for your hands, whether they’re typing misogynist bullshit on a keyboard or grabbing someone’s ass. How’s that for “core aggression.”

I feel I should circle all the parts that are wrong (the whole thing), and send it back for him to revise some more and try again. Also, making the welfare of ANY living being (including the planet), an issue confined to ‘the left/right’ is also an attempt to dodge responsibility

I feel like publications should stop giving him space. (Although I think this one was in his own newsletter, it was a sequel to his essay in NY mag last week.)
