There are as many different ways of being an intelligent human being as there are human beings. It's our competitive evolutionary advantage. A myriad of solutions for every problem. Sneering at people because they aren't smart in the way you are just advertises your ignorance.

Everyone in the Pentagon and White House is now laying out how they warned the president, and that he refused to heed their warnings.

You racialize a stranger. Publicly disrespect their entire career. Receive backlash. Refuse to apologize, dig in deeper and paint yourself as the victim in a gratuitous pile-on you started. Then the coup de grace? You solicit donations from strangers to finance your self-care 😵‍💫

  8. The Kabul debacle. Biden owns this. So does Trump. And Obama. And Bush. And many more. But Biden’s the president. Now. He made the executive decision to do it now, in a manner that led to this. Against the advice of US commanders, INTEL, diplomats. You can’t argue that away.

Lord have mercy. Securing an airport doesn’t matter if people can’t get to it or enter it.

  13. Essential, impassioned reporting from on the road to the airport in Kabul. This is what it’s really like for Afghans who are trying to get out, for people who helped the US, who are trying to follow the instructions the US government is now giving them. Insane.

No words. We’re leaving these people to die because we were too arrogant, heartless, and incompetent to make withdrawal plans that included at least those Afghans who will now be punished for helping us.

An extraordinary and moving speech from veteran MP Tom Tugendhat, with very harsh words for President Biden on Afghanistan “To see their commander in chief call into question the courage of men I fought with, is shameful.”

  16. Utah was settled by refugees fleeing religious persecution. We understand the pain caused by forced migration and appreciate the contributions of refugees in our communities. Today we sent a letter to expressing our desire in helping those who are fleeing Afghanistan.

A letter from Gov. Cox to President Biden reads:
Dear President Biden:
I’m deeply saddened by the human tragedy currently unfolding in Afghanistan. I recognize Utah plays no
direct role in shaping U.S. diplomatic or military policy, but we have a long history of welcoming
refugees from around the world and helping them restart their lives in a new country. We are eager to
continue that practice and assist with the resettlement of individuals and families fleeing Afghanistan,
especially those who valiantly helped U.S. troops, diplomats, journalists, and other civilians over the past
20 years.
As you may already know, Utah’s history guides our approach to refugees. Our state was settled by
refugees fleeing religious persecution 170 years ago. Their descendents have a deep understanding of the
danger and pain caused by forced migration and an appreciation for the wonderful contributions of
refugees in our communities.
Please advise us in the coming days and weeks how we can assist.
