I’m from Illinois. Gravy bread is weird, and uncommon, but tasty, and not unheard of. Butter burgers from Wisconsin. Neither weird nor bad. They are wonderful (for your mouth, not your arteries).

50+ year Illinois resident. Never heard of gravy bread. Unless it is what we called a "soaker"? That's what the hot dog stands called dipping French bread in Italian beef sauce. When they ran out of beef!
