Point of clarification: I grew up in the middle of Ireland and we all pronounced “book” the same as “spook”. Also, “British” accents shouldn’t include Ireland.
-
I’ve been mocked for that same pronunciation of book. I was born in the Northwest between Liverpool and Manchester but my mother’s side of the family were all from Dublin.
