Tonight I saw #StarWarsRiseofSkywalker for the third time. The first time, I was disappointed. The second, I was frustrated. This time, I find myself resigned to this in the same way I am about the prequels: I don’t like it, but now it’s canon. A lightly spoiler-filled thread:

This was my first time seeing it with the general public, not press/at a premiere. We saw it Saturday at 9pm at the Alamo Drafthouse in LA. Not a single person whooped or cheered.

There were a couple of things I picked up on this time I missed the first two: namely, the rando alien on the Falcon’s name is Claude, Finn does see two transports and I spotted Lin-Manuel Miranda’s cameo.

Also, it’s mentioned that the new fleet with multiple the First Order’s a thousand fold. So there are approx 100k new Star Destroyers? That means 7.4 billion people commanding them? MATH DON’T ADD UP I WILL TAKE THIS TO MY GRAVE.

Lastly, I hate what they pulled with Rey. If the Rey + Kylo dynamic is the best part of this new trilogy, making this the tale of two families is the worst. The idea of the universe expanding in TLJ was interesting. In TROS, it contracted down to two lineages. I expected more.

I’m sure my thoughts will change and evolve over the years. For now, that’s where I’m at. Don’t agree? Totally OK. There’s a galaxy big enough for all our Star Wars takes. I’m happy you may have enjoyed it more than I did.

No inside intel. But it's still not on the screen, so what might have been doesn't count for much to me IMO. This is what they cut and printed and shared with the world.

Her character wasn’t good. I like Kelly, thinks she’s very talented. But the character was poorly written and they gave her screen time in the worst part of the movie... Canto Bight was horrid.
